What can I expect at my first appointment with Essentials 4 Life?
Your first visit will take a little over one hour depending on the services you choose. For New patients, prior to your appointment, please download the patient forms and bring them with on your visit. We will begin by reviewing your information and asking questions to get a complete background about what brought you in for an appointment. We will also try to gain an understanding of your general health through examining your tongue and taking your pulse before we determine a treatment plan.
Your first session may be slightly longer as we review history intake, establish a treatment plan, and determine what areas of the body need to be focused on. Follow-up appointments are not as long.

How long do the needles stay inserted?
If Acupuncture is performed, the needles will be placed in specific points along your body. The room will be darkened and you will relax for 20 – 30 minutes. After you have had time to relax, the needles will be removed and your  treatment will be completed.
Any additional appointments will not take as long as the first appointment. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you have about your treatment.

What do I wear to my appointments?
Many of the procedures we practice allows you to remain comfortably in your own clothing. Depending on the points to be needled or for other therapies, you may be asked to change into a gown. Treatments are done on a table in a sitting or reclining position or can be done while sitting in a chair while  relaxing in a quiet environment.

How many treatments will you need?
Most people experience improvement after 3 to 6 treatments. Some people experience immediate relief from their symptoms, and others need more treatments depending on the severity of the condition. The duration of a course of treatments varies greatly and is dependent upon the condition that is being treated and how your body responds to treatment. Typically, the more chronic the condition, the longer it takes to treat. If you would like further information about your specific condition, please call us today to discuss it in more detail.

What conditions does Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine treat?
There are many things that Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can treat including headaches, nausea, eye problems, and more. Click on the image to see more results. Some illnesses may not be listed, but that does not mean they cannot be treated.

How does Acupuncture work?
Acupuncture creates a strong stimulation and “reboots” the nerve pathways. The sensation created by the needles ‘jumps’ the neural signal threshold and stimulates the brain to release endorphins/enkephalins. After a few hours, the signal gets weak again, but with continued treatments the body begins to remember and re-establishes a normal threshold signal to the brain.

Who can receive Acupuncture QEST treatments?
Anyone any age, including children can receive Acupuncture and/or QEST treatments. Holistic medicine for children can be an essential part in helping a child to thrive and remain healthy.

Does Acupuncture hurt?
No, acupuncture does not hurt as the needles used are very fine, and their insertion relatively painless. Most patients feel nothing at all, or a small pricking sensation during insertion of the needles. Acupuncture needles are solid, fine needles that are inserted quickly into the skin. They are not like typical needles you see at a doctor’s office. You may feel a wide range of sensations once the needles are inserted including slight pressure, warmth, tingling, or a slight pinching. All of these sensations are completely normal and an indication that the treatment is working.  Should an individual not be comfortable with needles, there are other methods that can be used such as vibrational acupuncture, acupressure, magnets, etc.

How does QEST work?
QEST™ is a highly organized system of energy healing that uses a gentle, hands-on approach to skillfully trigger the body’s inherent healing ability. Each session includes listening to you and to what your body is saying. Throughout treatment, your body alignment is enhanced, for ease of movement and freedom from pain while we identify and eliminate problems before they develop into a crisis.
